Jack Tommy Stratton

Jack Tommy Stratton passed away on June 14, 2013 at his home in Lexington at the age of 89 years. He was born on December 24, 1923 in Los Angeles, California to Safe Glenn Stratton and Ollie Roanne (Stanford) Stratton. Jack graduated from Maysville High School in 1941 and went on to graduate from Oklahoma A & M, now known as Oklahoma State University in Stillwater. While in school he was involved in FFA where he showed Chester White Barrows and had a reputation of having the best barrows in the area. After college he worked as the county extension agent for Mays and Caddo County. Jack served his country as a pilot in the Army Air Force. He married Shirley Eaton in Las Vegas on May 20, 1991. He worked for WKY radio where he was the Farm Director and gave the farm reports. Jack also worked as a salesman for John Deere and Allis Chalmers dealerships selling farming implements. He and his wife, Shirley, moved to Lexington from Ohio City, Colorado. She preceded him in death on September 5, 2012. He was a member of the Lutheran Church. Jack will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. His survivors include his sons, Jackie Stratton and wife Jo of Holly, Colorado; Jerry Stratton and wife Dena of Maysville; and Jimmy Stratton, and wife Jan of Muddock, Massachusetts. Step-sons: Lynn Eaton of Bemidji, Minnesota and David Eaton of Sacramento, California. Step-daughter, Laura Foch of Lincoln, Nebraska. Grandchildren: Cary, Jason, Bridgett, Jamie, and Jakob. 9 great grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter. A sister, Mary Rice of Maysville. Nephew, Glen James and wife Sharon. Niece, Teresa Smith. A special great nephew and family, Matthew and Emily Smith and Gabe andAbby Smith. Jack was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Shirley; sister, Margaret James; and a great granddaughter, Morgan Stratton. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, August 17, 2013 at Winans Funeral Home Chapel, Maysville.
