Willie Mae Brown of Davis passed away on Thursday, June 27, 2013 at Arbuckle Memorial Hospital in Sulphur, OK at the age of 80 years. She was born on April 18, 1933 in Wallville, OK to Verley William “Dee” Ellithorp and Mammie Francis (Adams) Ellithorp. Willie Mae graduated from Hughes High School, where she was an excellent basketball player. On December 23, 1951 she married Vernon V. “Speedy” Brown at the Methodist Church in Maysville. While living in Fairview they owned and operated Brownie’s Paint and Construction. Willie Mae also worked as a nurse’s aide at the hospital. She graduated as a LPN from Mid-America Vo-Tech at the age of 56 years. She then worked in the nursing homes and hospitals where she really enjoyed the Emergency Room work. People enjoyed watching her talk, they would leave and re-enter the conversation and she never skipped a beat. Her family was very important to her and she would sew for them. She was Meema to all of her grandkids and their friends. Willie Mae enjoyed crossword puzzles, gardening, and crocheting rugs and afghans. She was affiliated with the Methodist Church. She will be dearly missed by all of her family and many friends. Her survivors include her son, Vernon “Chip” Brown and Margaret Poe of Lindsay. Daughters: Diana Collier and husband Steve of Lindsay; and Jana Foster and husband Rickey of Hennepin. A brother, R. L. “Bud” Ellithorp of Alex. Sisters: Florene Wenzel of Maysville and June Rausch and husband Earl of Maysville. 11 Grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. And her beloved dog, Missy. Willie Mae was preceded in death by her parents, Dee and Mammie Ellithorp; husband, Vernon "Speedy" Brown; sister, Maurine Rausch; and grandson, Robby Foster. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, June 29, 2013 at Winans Funeral Home, Maysville, OK with Rev. Ronnie Blankenship officiating. Burial will be in the Antioch Cemetery under the direction of John Williams of Winans Funeral Home, Maysville, OK. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.winansfuneralhome.com
