Mary Lea Criss

Mary Lea (Rains) Criss was born September 24, 1919 at Wynona ,Oklahoma to Layton Allen Rains and Bessie Birdy (Baker) Rains. She passed away Thanksgiving Day, November 22, 2012 at the Sunset Estates Nursing Home in Purcell, OK at the age of 93 years. Mrs. Criss has been a resident of Maysville for many years. She married Roy Lee Criss, Sr. on January 29, 1937 in Oklahoma City. She and her husband came to Maysville from Oklahoma City in 1973 to be near other family members. She loved her family, gardening, cooking, sewing, and reading her Bible. Mrs. Criss loved to work with children, especially listening to them read. She was a member of the Beaty Baptist Church. Mrs. Criss taught Sunday School for 45 years. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Survivors: a son, Roy Criss Jr. and wife Donna of Maysville. Son-in-law, Charles Jackson of Maysville. A daughter, Virginia Pringle and husband Bob of Bethany, Oklahoma. Sister, Velma Curtis of Liberal, Kansas. 5 Grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren Mrs. Criss is preceded in death by her husband Roy Criss Sr.; daughter Loretta Jackson; a grandson, Ryan; grandson-in-law, Randy Reynolds; 2 brothers, Johnny Rains and Will Rains; and 2 sisters Allie Casey and Alpharetta Haile. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, November 26, 2012 at Winans Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Eldon Archer and J. R. Williams officiating.
