Shirley Ann George Born: January 30, 1954 at Lindsay, Oklahoma to Julian James Franklin and Sylvia Emmagene Dodson Franklin. Died: June 25, 2011 at the Norman Regional Hospital Age: 57 Shirley has lived most of her life in Lindsay. She graduated from high school in Lindsay in 1973, and later received her Bachelor of Science Degree from Oklahoma University in Social Work, with a minor in Psychology. On November 21, 1974 she married Donald George. Shirley worked for the McClain County Department of Human Services as a child welfare social worker for 10 years before retiring in 2009. She enjoyed camping, traveling, and taking road trips. Shirley was a fan of reading, shopping for shoes, purses, and jewelry, and most of all spending time with and loving all of her family. She attended the First Assembly of God Church in Lindsay. Survivors: Her husband Donald of the home. 1 Son: Britt George and wife Joy of Lindsay. 2 Daughters: Aimee Newman and husband Robert of Norman and Amber Zenor and husband Rick of Canadian, Texas. Her Aunt: Angelo Dahl of Edmond and an Uncle Ray Dodson of New Orleans . 1 Brother: James and wife Carolyn Franklin of Lindsay and his boys Johnathon and Adam Franklin. Grandchildren: Skylor Crawford, Madison Zenor, Cailee Zenor, Nikki Newman and Joshua Newman. 2 Step-Grandchildren: Zac Williams and wife Amanda and Cody Williams. Extended family members are: Joe Bob and Jackie Hines and children LaShanda and husband Ryan Somers and their son Connor. Also LaNinna and husband Brady Jones and their children Shaelyn, Shane and Scott Jones all from Lindsay. Also survived by several loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. In lieu of flowers, donations to help defray funeral expenses may be sent to Winans Funeral Home, PO Box 515, Maysville, OK 73057. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, June 29, 2011, at 10:00am at the First Assembly of God in Lindsay with Rev. Rodney Hutcheson officiating. Burial will be in the Erin Springs Cemetery under the direction of John Williams of Winans Funeral Home, Maysville. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.winansfuneralhome.com.
