Billy Doyle Ramsey

Billy Doyle Ramsey, 69, of Maysville passed away peacefully with his wife by his side on Thursday morning, June 23, 2011 at his home in Maysville. He was born July 4, 1941 at Fittstown, Oklahoma to Doyle and Thelma (Howry) Ramsey. Bill was a longtime resident of this area. He attended Maysville Schools, and graduated high school from Woodston, Kansas. Bill served in the United States Navy for 13 years. During the Vietnam War he was awarded two Bronze Stars, while serving on the USS Kitty Hawk and USS Delta . Bill married Carolyn Sue Orr on January 2, 1976 at Lindsay, Oklahoma. He was a great man of faith and a member of the First Baptist Church of Maysville, where he had served as Sunday School Superintendent, taught 3 year olds, 1st and 2nd grade Bible classes, sang in the choir, and cooked at the Men’s Breakfasts. Bill loved his grandchildren and was a sponsor and supporter of the Oklahoma Sox Softball team for his granddaughters’ team in Moore. He enjoyed fishing, pheasant and quail hunting, and the fellowship of his friends. Bill was owner/operator of Ramsey’s Heating and Air. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. His survivors include his wife, Carolyn Sue Ramsey of the home in Maysville. Son, Chuck Ramsey and his wife, Pam of Moore. Brother, Charles Ramsey and his wife, Mery of Florida. Sister, Patsy Strutt of Oakly, Kansas. Sisters-in-law: Dorothy Brown of Maysville and Faye Orr of Oklahoma City. Brothers-in-law: Charles Orr of Lindsay and Paul Ray Orr of Florida. 4 grandchildren: Brandi Patrick, Sara Sheerin, Blake Ramsey, and Sydnee Ramsey. 2 great grandchildren: Alissa Patrick and Jordan Patrick. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Boyd. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Monday, June 27, 2011 at the First Baptist Church of Maysville, OK. Rev. Steve Spangler and Rev. Chuck Shilling will officiate with burial in the Maysville Cemetery under the direction of John Williams of Winans Funeral Home, Maysville, OK.
