Ray G. Johnson, 81, of Maysville died on Monday, March 28, 2011 at Purcell Municipal Hospital. He was born January 22, 1930 at Foster, Oklahoma to George Emerson and Myrtle (Griffith) Johnson. Ray was a lifetime resident of the Garvin County area, moving from Whitebead to Maysville in 1984. On June 9, 1955, he married Lucy Sorrels at Pauls Valley. Ray had worked in the oilfield, construction, and farm labor where he had been employed by Junior Morphew, George Kizzar, and Garland Bratcher. He enjoyed fishing, sitting in his yard, and watching traffic go by. Ray also had a hobby of collecting things. He will be missed by his family and friends. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Lucy of the home. Son, Gary “Fuzzy” Johnson of Maysville. Daughter, Carolyn Georgette Johnson of Maysville. Sisters, Jean Selman of Maysville and Bessie Smith of Oregon Grandchildren: Bobby Joe Johnson and Lisa Johnson Resendiz Great grandchildren: Kaleb, Carrie, Arriana, and Seth Johnson And a host of other relatives and friends. Ray was preceded in death by his parents; 2 sons, Bobby Ray and Timothy Dean Johnson; his twin brother, Roy Johnson; and sisters, Geneva, Clem, Jearline, Dicie, Jewel, and Lois. Pallbearers will be Bobby Joe Johnson, Kaleb Johnson, John Selman, William Bone, Keith O’Neal, Ray Sorrels, and Ricky Sorrels. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm, Thursday, March 31, 2011 at Winans Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Billy Davenport officiating. Burial will be in the Maysville Cemetery under the direction of John Williams of Winans Funeral Home, Maysville, OK. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.winansfuneralhome.com.
