Ruby Cleo Leach

November 10, 1913 — December 11, 2010

Cleo was born November 10, 1913 near Tuska, Atoka County, Oklahoma and passed from this earth on December 11, 2010. She was the second child of eleven born to Pearl and Laura Belle Richard. Cleo married to Larece Eugene “Gene” Leach on June 2, 1934. They were married sixty-one years prior to his death December 20, 1995. From this marriage there were three children, Lowell E. Leach, Doris Kathryn York, and Kenneth P. Leach. They began their married life at the Neil Switch community between Maysville and Lindsay, OK, where their two first children were born. They then moved to the Story community on Finn Creek in 1938, and their third child was born, and they lived there until 1946, when they bought their first farm 2 miles west of Antioch, OK. The family moved to Maysville in 1948 where they lived until 1960, when they built a new home on their new farm 2 miles east of Antioch. They sold their farm in 1972 and moved back to Maysville where they lived until Eugene died in 1995. Two years later Cleo moved to Ada and lived 13 years at the Baptist Retirement Village. Cleo graduated from Maysville High School in 1934 where she was an outstanding basketball player. She was employed at Maysville High School Cafeteria for seven years from 1953 until 1960. Cleo quit because she and Gene moved back to the farm at Antioch. She was always a help-mate with her husband in farming. Cleo was well liked and loved by her children’s friends and always had a houseful of kids with whom she shared her good meals. They loved her cooking and had many good meals at the Leach household. Cleo was very involved in home extension work. While living in the Maysville area she was a member of Antioch A.B.C. Extension Club. She was an excellent cook, gardener and seamstress and had a drawer full of Garvin County Fair blue ribbons. Cleo was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Chimney Hill Chapter, Ada, OK. She was a life long Southern Baptist and at the time of her death was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ada, OK. Cleo loved her family very much and was always very involved in the family gatherings. She will be truly missed by everyone. Cleo is survived by: Lowell Leach and wife, Erna of Ada, OK; Kathryn York and husband, Hubert of Norman, OK; and Kenneth Leach and wife, Vicki of Gulfport, MS. Six grandchildren: Ralph “Tres” Bolles, Thomas D. Leach, Kathryn Leach Bridges, Michelle Leach Smith, Sharon Leach Pool, and Robert “Bobby” Bolles. Twenty great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren. Two sisters: Edmona Erbar and Tawina Wooldridge. Numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends and relatives. Preceded in death by her parents, husband, and granddaughters, Cindy Leach Kelley and Lisa Dawn Bolles, one daughter-in-law, Wanda Ellis Leach, four brothers, Carl, Darrel, Dalton, and Jimmy, and four sisters, Lorene Jackson, Nellie Hendrix Bellu, Doris Jones, and Dorothy Edwards. Funeral Services for Ruby Cleo Leach will be held at 2:30 pm, Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at First Baptist Church in Maysville, OK. Pastor Gary Brandt and Rev. Steve Spangler will officiate with burial in the Maysville Cemetery under the direction of John Williams of Winans Funeral Home, Maysville.
