Mary Marguerite Purkhiser

Mary M. Purkhiser, 90, of Maysville passed away Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at Washita Valley Health Center in Pauls Valley. She was born February 5, 1920 to Ali Marrs at Blodgett, Missouri. Mary moved to California when she was 9 years old. On November 25, 1951 she married Dennis Purkhiser at Fresno, California. Mary and Dennis moved to Oklahoma in 1971, then in 1985 they moved to Maysville to live where her husband worked as chief of police. Mary worked as a dietician in the nursing homes and hospitals. She enjoyed writing poetry, singing, sewing, and gardening. Mary was a good cook, a good church worker, and a woman of prayer. She was a member of the Maysville Assembly of God Church. Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Dennis of the home Son, Jack Atnip of California Daughter, Carol Carpena and her husband, Ted of Oregon Step-son, Gary Purkhiser of California Brother-in-law, Samuel Purkhiser of Texas 12 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren Nieces and nephews Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, March 26, 2010 at the Maysville Assembly of God Church. Rev. Billy Davenport and Rev. Curt Bartmess will officiate with burial in the Maysville Cemetery under the direction of John Williams of Winans Funeral Home, Maysville, OK.
