Ermie Josephine Duke, 80, died Sunday, October 10, 2010 at Sunset Estates in Purcell. She was born April 1, 1930 at Wilburton, Oklahoma to Joseph Oscar and Dollie Mae (South) Vestle. Mrs. Duke was a longtime Maysville resident. Due to declining health she moved to Purcell about 2 years ago to be near her daughter. Josie married Ernie Duke on June 7, 1947 at Maysville. They made their home in a chicken house with cardboard walls, but they had love. Josie had worked in the fields in this area helping to make a living for their family. She was a dedicated homemaker, raising a garden, and canning pickles. Josie loved to grow flowers, sewing, and singing. She was a member of the Pentecostal Church. Her survivors include a daughter, Linda Morris of Purcell. Brother, Jimmy Vestle of Maysville. Sister, Dollie Mae Smart of Pocasset. 4 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and one on the way, and 1 great great grandchild. Several nieces, nephews, other relatives and by many friends. Josie was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Dollie Vestle; husband, Ernie; 2 sons, Charles Edward and James Carl; siblings, Robert, Joe, Willie, Richard, and Katherine. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at the Winans Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Roy Parnell and Bro. Steve Mayhan officiating. Burial will be in the Maysville Cemetery under the direction of John Williams of Winans Funeral Home, Maysville, OK. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.winansfuneralhome.com
