Rita Kay Benthin Born: November 15, 1961 at Oklahoma City to Delbert and Trudy Williams Burger. Died: July 31, 2009, at her home southwest of Maysville Age: 47 Rita grew up in Newcastle, Oklahoma and graduated there about 1978. She married David Benthin on November 8, 1980 here in Maysville. Rita and her husband are well known with their association with Papa’s Charcoal and later The Lumberyard Grill, both located here in Maysville. Rita had a great love for animals, helping hurt ones and even moving terrapins out of the road. She was also a health care provider most recently staying with Mrs. Woodruff. Her great passion next to her family was her horses. She was a barrel-racer for years and had won many awards and trophies for her efforts at BBR and Central 4-D events. She attended the Love Baptist Church and also the Abundant Love Church. Survivors: Her husband of 29 years, David of the home Mother-in-law: Elisabeth Nunez and husband, Leon of Amarillo, Texas Father-in-law: Bill Benthin and wife, Chris of Maysville Brothers: Darrell Burger of Newcastle; Steve and Diana Burger of Rush Springs; Eddie and Gwen Burger of Duncan. Sisters: Darla “Sissy” Ladymon of Norman and Jan Coley of Norman, Oklahoma. Brother-in-law: Glen Benthin and wife, Jacquie of Norman. Sister-in-laws: Brenda and Jerome Drerup of Amarillo, Texas; Barbara and Dale Barnard of Amarillo. Rita is also survived by many nieces, nephews, a great many friends in this community that would see her most every day and by the many school children that she would not only feed, but befriend and help in any way needed and those people that worked for her and Dave in their businesses. She will certainly be missed in the community. Rita was preceded in death by her parents, Delbert and Trudy Burger.
